I would say purchasing a fine, vintage professional model oboe in fine condition would be a far better investment than purchasing a new 'modified' or 'student' model oboe. Loree accomplished some of their very best work ever (and some of my favorite work) during the I series.and this horn really speaks to that work. I don’t see any letters before the number. I understand that Loree serial numbers have two letters followed by two numbers. The outside diameter is much lower than modern oboes.
